WLIoT and Siemens: Connecting Higher Education with Industry

Scroll down

At West London Institute of Technology (WLIoT), we believe higher education should prepare students not only for their next qualification, but for the world of work.

Our strong partnerships with leading employers, including global technology company Siemens, help us create opportunities for students to connect their learning with real-world industry.

Bringing Industry into the Classroom

Siemens logoThrough our Siemens Connected Curriculum Partnership, WLIoT is helping to bridge the gap between education and industry by bringing real-world digital engineering and Industry 4.0 technologies into relevant curriculum and project activities.

Through the partnership, students can benefit from:

  • Access to Siemens software
  • Case studies
  • Practical learning resources
  • Industry insight.

Academic staff are supported by Siemens specialists, including technical guidance and engagement with students during project activities.

This provides valuable opportunities for students to apply their knowledge to practical, industry-focused challenges and gain an insight into the technologies and approaches used across engineering, manufacturing, automation and digital industries.

Building Industry-Ready Skills

The partnership supports WLIoT’s commitment to providing higher education that is closely connected to employer needs. Through relevant projects and activities, students can develop practical experience, confidence and an understanding of how their learning can be applied in the workplace.

Students involved in the Siemens Connected Curriculum also have the opportunity to participate in the Siemens Connected Curriculum Student Competition, giving them the platform to showcase their work with industry professionals.

For staff, the partnership provides access to industry expertise, teaching resources and technical support, helping to strengthen the connection between curriculum delivery and the evolving needs of employers.

Strong Employer Partnerships, Stronger Career Pathways

Siemens is one of a number of employer partnerships that help make the WLIoT experience distinctive. By working with leading organisations, it gives students opportunities to engage with industry, understand real-world challenges and develop skills and experiences that can support their future career ambitions.

Whether students are progressing into employment or further study, our strong connections with industry help create a pathway between higher education and the world of work.
